Like an echo of a fifties and sixties heirloom, this double-cut stunner brings antique-grade warmth and resonance into the present before piling on the modern comfort and playability. This is the Viola-finished edition of the D'Angelico Excel DC, and it features a sixteen-inch maple body, a slim C-profile neck, a rosewood fretboard with a last, fast and responsive sixteen-inch radius, and a set of Jescar 47/104 frets for that light and smooth 'nickel' feel.
Vintage-Voiced Seymour Duncan Pups
A two-piece set of classic Seymour Duncan '59 humbuckers combine with the vintage-flavoured build to produce a surprisingly wide tonal spectrum framed by ultra-warm basses, glassy, bell-like trebles and masses of natural sustain. Pop out the push-pull tone pots to split the double-coils down the middle and spit single-coil-style sound and double the tonal profiles. The rich sonic character of this guitar has been echoed in the detailing: from the set of Grover Imperial machine heads and Deco-style tuning buttons to the pinstriped ebony control pots and gold hardware, completing an elegant and flexible love note of a model.
